1. Since 2005 MHI has experience conducting large observational and
experimental studies on the relationship between vitamin D and
multiple endpoints related to infectious disease (TB, acute
respiratory infection) and immune health, child growth and
development, pregnancy, atopic dermatitis. We have access to and
experience using REDCap (cloud-based data entry system epidemiologic
studies). Our data team has extensive experience entering and
processing data from large epidemiologic studies.
2. We have conducted large dietary and nutrition assessments. We
collected ~2000 person-days of prospective dietary intake and
nutritional biomarkers collected from 2011-2016 in urban/rural areas
of 7 aimags and Ulaanbaatar and used these to develop purpose-built
food composition data. At the moment we have the most extensive food
composition data in Mongolia. We have developed local dietary
assessment methods and protocols (FFQ, diet records, screeners, etc.).
Have also applied/developed methods for analysis of national household
food consumption and expenditure data.
3. Our lab draws and processes blood samples and conducts analyses of
vitamin D levels and TB infection (gold standard quantiferon gold
assay).
4. We are audited by KPMG and conforming to administrative and ethical
research guidelines governing Harvard University subcontractors - also
a locally-audited registered NGO in Mongolia.
5. We have had productive working relationships with MoFALI, MOH, WHO,
UNICEF, SHUTIS, ASHUIS, parliament, NCD hospital, soum hospitals in
different aimags, UB mayor's office.
6. Experience putting together large international conferences and
workshops (Central Eurasian Nutrition Forum, Harvard Radcliffe
Exploratory Workshop, Harvard Medical Education Symposium Night etc.)
7. Experience publishing in international public health and medical
journals and presenting posters at international conferences.
