Colégio Integrado Monteiro Lobato

Colégio Integrado Monteiro Lobato was an avant-garde school, created and ran by visionary women who have always believed that the education process goes far beyond the regular classroom. Founded in November 1989, Monteiro officially started its activities on March 19, 1990, under the direction of its founders: Celia Werner Rodrigues Barsotti and Maria Aparecida Manfredini Stuque. Years later, the pedagogical area was run by Celia's daughter, Joyce Barsotti Cunha. With a conception of learning based on the principles of Vygotsky's cultural-historical psychology, at Monteiro learning has always happened in interaction with the others. Classrooms were an environment for carrying out team activities, exchanging ideas with teachers and colleagues, exercising creativity and much, much more: a space where interaction was present and necessary, where there was collaboration, cooperation, and learning became more significant. Providing students with the development of an integrated and continuous learning process, guaranteeing them the conditions to build and develop knowledge, as well as training critical citizens aware of their role in society was our main objective, and made us a reference as a high quality school in the region. An irreverent, daring and pioneering school, which had around 600 students and 90 educators distributed among the courses: Nursery, Kindergarten, Elementary School, High School and Bilingual Project. In 2020, during a terrible pandemic, Monteiro was sold to Group Eleva Educação and was renamed Colégio Elite Monteiro Lobato. With three decades of history, however, Monteiro will always be in the memories and hearts of all who were once part of this great family. Our story was made like this: built side by side with people who shared the same values and goals in life.
