MONUA

The Model United Nations of Universidad de los Andes (MONUA) is an independent student-led initiative affiliated with the Faculty of Social Sciences (FACISO) at Universidad de los Andes. Its foundation is, and will always be, excellence—both as a guiding principle and a mode of existence to which all participants must adhere. MONUA is firmly committed to the transmission of knowledge and the creation of high-level academic experiences, not only for its participants but also for its organizers. Its goal is to remain a regional and global leader in interconnectedness, innovation, rigor, and dedication. MONUA's core mission is to create outstanding academic spaces defined by excellence. As a competitive and educational platform, the model welcomes delegates from high schools, universities, and other countries to engage in discussions on issues of national, regional, and global relevance. Through this, MONUA fosters academic inquiry and critical thinking by encouraging participants to research and represent the perspectives of real-world decision-makers. Additionally, the model aims to develop essential skills such as public speaking, negotiation, research, and argumentation—tools that will serve participants well throughout their academic and professional journeys. Moreover, MONUA remains deeply committed to social responsibility. Through community engagement projects, it generates meaningful impact in the lives of children across Colombia. The vision of the Model United Nations of Universidad de los Andes is to cultivate spaces that contribute to the development of critical thinking and the formulation of solutions to national, regional, and global challenges, depending on the focus of each committee. Furthermore, MONUA seeks to support the formation of global citizens through academic and well-being activities, fostering cross-cultural exchange and broadening the worldview of all participants.
