MOORE - Infinite storage

MOORE developed a smart caching solution that tackles a major pain point – the physical storage capacity of smartphones. Our ambition is to turn your smartphone's physical memory into unlimited storage space, accessible even offline, by leveraging machine learning algorithms, compression algorithms and Cloud storage. In a few words, we developed a local file system that seamlessly bridges the smartphone's local cache and a Cloud storage space. This system architecture is built at the OS-level and is powered by a machine learning algorithm that analyzes data usage patterns and is able to predict the important files to the user. As a first step, new files created are stored both on-device and duplicated to the Cloud. Throughout the device’s lifetime, the algorithm keeps on-device in original quality the files that are most likely to be used, while other files are dynamically compressed, and their original versions remain seamlessly accessible from the Cloud. When they are online, users have access to all their files from their usual location. Offline, they have access to all their files, the less likely to be used are in adapted quality (actual miss rate : 2%). MOORE is creating a much-needed seamless Cloud UX that is currently not available on the market - existing mobile Cloud applications haven't been designed for smartphones and therefore don't solve the problem of running out of space- and is aiming to be integrated to the OS of a manufacturer to launch the first smartphone with unlimited storage.
