MORE THAN SHELTERS offers innovative architecture and social design-concepts for humanitarian needs as well as consulting services for humanitarian assistance. Our goal is to create temporary homes for people in distress and to give everyone an opportunity to help themselves. Today more than 1 billion people on this planet live in unsafe, unhealthy and miserable conditions. Recent statistics indicate that slums are growing worldwide every day by 180,000 people. The United Nations predict that in 2050 there will be 3 billion people living in slums, informal settlements and camps. The average lifespan of a refugee camp today is close to 20 years. The average length of stay of a refugee amounts up to 12 years. These developments pose new and complex challenges for the society. The social business comprises two entities (for-profit and non-profit). Both are structurally interlinked and serve the same objective – to help improve the living conditions of the deprived worldwide due to crisis and disasters.
