About MOSAIC - a research training group

The research training group MOSAIC is funded by the HEAD genuit foundation and is dedicated to research into acoustic well-being in different indoor and outdoor spaces and during various activities such as learning, working and relaxing. Particular attention is paid to “soundscape” research, which investigates environmental factors and their influence on auditory perception. The interdisciplinary research group is taking into account numerous factors that influence the acoustic experience. These include interactions with temperatures, light conditions, air quality, as well as room height and geometry. In addition, research is being conducted into how people react physiologically to different acoustic environments. To answer these questions, the research group is using not only laboratory experiments but also field studies, interviews, and surveys. A total of eight chairs are involved in the research training group, seven of which are from RWTH Aachen University and UKA and one of which is from TU Berlin. The participating chairs include: Healthy Living Spaces (Professor Marcel Schweiker) Hearing Technology and Acoustics (Professor Janina Fels) Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Building (Professor Christoph van Treeck) Energy Efficient Buildings and Indoor Climate (Professor Dirk Müller) Occupational, Social, and Environmental Medicine (Professor Thomas Kraus) Urban Design (Professor Christa Reicher) Housing Construction (Professor Florian Fischer-Almannai) Psychoacoustics (Dr. André Fiebig, TU Berlin)
