After all, it's at the design level that we first come in contact with the user. It is impossible and impractical to separate design from function. All good design should do something. Each design element should be intentional with a well thought out purpose. In many cases less is more. Mosaic Recipe for Good Design As with every great recipe, it is the sum of the ingredients -- not the individual elements -- that makes the dish stand out. When the ingredients are combined in exactly the right way, a good dish becomes great. Each design element should serve a practical purpose and a designer must know when an element is simply a garnish rather than a main ingredient. Using an element in the wrong way can actually distract from the intended message. We take design very seriously.
