Mount Elgon Tree Growing Enterprise is a 'not for profit' organization, registered and based in Mbale, our head offices are located on Boma Avenue Plot 29.
We do not work alone, through partnerships with our implementing partners such as Mt Elgon Agroforestry Communities Cooperative (MEACCE), Share an opportunity Uganda (SAO), Bungokho Rural Development Centre (BRDC) and Salem Brotherhood, we encourage communities to practice agroforestry.
The organization has 45 tree nursery beds across all districts in the Elgon sub-region that is Bududa, Manafwa, Sironko, Namisindwa, Bulambuli and Mbale districts and in Teso sub-region we are in Bukedea district.
We give out free tree seedlings to smallholder farmers to grow for food because we distribute fruit tree seedlings, trees that can provide shade to coffee to grow well, trees for fodder, nectar for bees among other economic benefits.
