Howard University Master of Public Health (MPH)

The Howard University Master of Public Health (MPH) program is an 18 month program offered through the Howard University Graduate School. The highly interdisciplinary program provides unique opportunities to work across disciplines and equips our students with the skills and knowledge needed to prepare them for a host of career options in the public health sector. Graduates of the MPH program will be able to successfully navigate the intersections of research, practice, teaching, administration, and policy development, in order to address the current and evolving issues within public health. The goal of the program is to prepare the next generation of public health professionals with the knowledge, skills, and competencies for leadership, nationally and globally, in public health education, practice, and research with particular emphasis on the elimination of health disparities. The objectives of the program are to prepare individuals in the promotion of health and the prevention of disease in communities and globally with an emphasis on the needs of vulnerable populations, apply analytical reasoning and research methods to address social, behavioral, and environmental determinants of public health, use advance epidemiological methods and biostatistics to examine associations between social, behavioral and environmental factors and disease, and use public health research findings for policy development.
