Médecins Sans Frontière’s (MSF) commitment to speaking out is a core, evolving component of its history and mission – and complements medical action. For MSF, speaking out cannot be reduced to a mechanical application of rules and procedures as it involves an understanding of the dilemmas inherent in every instance of humanitarian action.
The MSF Speaking Out Case Studies (SOCS) document critical humanitarian dilemmas, constraints and controversies surrounding speaking out throughout the history of MSF.
The SOCS project offers a variety of materials to engage with:
- The MSF Speaking Out podcasts are adapted from the MSF Speaking Out Case Studies. Like the case studies, the podcast series examines the challenges, constraints, and dilemmas surrounding speaking out.
- The MSF Speaking Out Learning modules provide a suite of interactive training tools and learning opportunities that further increase the understandings of speaking out dilemmas, constraints, and controversies detailed in the case studies.
Case Studies, Podcasts and Learning Modules ground and impart MSF’s speaking out experiences to a new generation of humanitarian actors.
