Mudman is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable low-impact building construction practices based on natural earthen materials. Some of the earthen building techniques Mudman promotes include building with mud bricks, rammed earth, wood, and natural lime mixtures. Mudman promotes a rediscovery and renaissance of ancient earthen building practices for the sake of offering people of the 21st century affordable and healthy places to live and work that have timeless beauty. Earthen architecture is not only practical, it offers designs and builders three dimensional mediums to create new and wondrous functional sculptures. Many earthen buildings are not peoples' homes and workplaces, but also enduring works of art. Seeing the seashell-like flowing organic curves of a newly built cob cottage in Oregon or visiting a classic Spanish adobe hacienda in New Mexico inspire wonder and awe while serving as living testaments to the amazing medium for artistic expression that is contained within the soil under our feet when it is used as a building material.
