Enhanced Development of the Graduate Experience (EDGE): Professional and Academic Development resources and programming for Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Fellows at Memorial University. Memorial University’s School of Graduate Studies (SGS) offers the Enhanced Development of the Graduate Experience (EDGE) program, providing graduate students and postdoctoral fellows with access to professional and academic development resources. EDGE helps students enhance their collaborative skills, competencies, and experience, preparing them to become leading scholars, practitioners, and/or leaders in their chosen fields. The EDGE initiative supports lifelong learning at students’ own pace, fostering the development of high-level intellectual skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and ethical conduct. Through EDGE workshops, programs, and resources, graduate students gain broad skills and competencies in areas of learning and research, management and responsibility, and communication and teamwork. By participating in the EDGE program, graduate students at Memorial have the opportunity to build knowledge and develop expertise across diverse skills and competencies, thereby expanding their networks and enhancing their confidence for academic success and professional endeavors in their careers. EDGE workshops cover a range of topics, including project management, academic writing, research methods, professional ethics, communication, conflict management, and professional development, as well as academic support for graduate students.
