মুন্সিগঞ্জ পলিটেকনিক ইন্সটিটিউট ২২/০৭/২০০৬ সালে যাত্রা শুরু করে । প্রথমে এটি Munshigonj Technical Training School & College এর ৩ টি কক্ষ নিয়ে এর কার্যক্রম শুরু করে এবং এতে যে ২ টি Department চালো হয় তা হল Computer এবং Electronics.
তখন এর Principal ছিলেন Billal Hossain. Sir এর অক্লান্ত পরিশ্রমে এবং আরও কয়েক জন sir দের সহযোগিতাতে এই Institute এ ক্লাশ শুরু করে ২০০৬ সালে । তখন ২ টি Department এ {৪০+৮=৪৮ ৪০+৮=৪৮ } = ৯৬ জন ছাত্র-ছাত্রী ছিল। এর পর ২০০৮ সালের নভেম্বর মাসে এটি এর মূল ভবন এ (কমলাঘাট) স্থানানত্বরিত হয়। বর্তমানে এখানে ৪ টি Department এ ২ টি করে Shift চালো আছে।
