Bassano’s Civic Museum is one of the most ancient museums in Veneto. Housed in the former Franciscan monastery, its first collection dated 1840, when the naturalist Giambattista Brocchi donated some natural history collections (herbaria, mineralogical, malacological, entomological) and books. Also, he gave some paintings, from churches and monastery demolited in the Napoleonic period, which had already been placed in the cloister of San Francesco since 1831. The entire heritage over time has beautifully enriched so now Bassano’s Museum housed the greatest collection of Jacopo Bassano but also the hall dedicated to Antonio Canova that collects the chalks, the busts and the monochromes. It also has the Civic Gallery which hosts the temporary expositions and a specific area for educational topic. Bassano's Civic Museums currently have 5 city exhibit locations: they're buildings that are part of the storic and artistic heritage of Bassano; they've been restored and have been made available for the pubblic, in order to satisfy different cultural demands that from time to time the city and the citizens present. They're Palazzo Sturm (home the Remondini Print Museum and the Ceramic Museum), Palazzo Bonaguro, Chiesetta dell'Angelo, and Torre delle Grazie.
