Musical Instruments Innovation Lab (MIIL) is a technology SME set up in July 2017 following our 10-year history of manufacturing, selling and repairing classical, flamenco and concert acoustic guitars under the DVGuitars brand. Music and precision workmanship, especially with wood, have always been my passion. To end up designing and making my own musical instruments was only a matter of time. David Vidal (CEO) "Initially, due to my training in electronics and telecommunications, I carried out several successful business projects within the engineering field of professional audiovisual installation and it was not until I was 37 years old that I started my specific training as a luthier/guitar builder in the workshops of luthiers Jean Pierre Sardin and Tomoyuki Furuta in Barcelona. After 10 years in my own workshop, designing and manufacturing guitars, basses and repairing any instrument that fell into my hands, I began to see and suffer the limitations and problems of wood as a material for the construction of high quality instruments. My experience and my obsession with perfection led me to investigate other more modern materials that provide not only solutions to the classic problems of wood homogeneity and stability, but also far superior acoustic qualities. From this experience and the potential discovered, the MuseWaves project was set up to design and create innovative instruments intended to make life easier for musicians". In June 2017, we were selected by the European Space Agency as part of its incubation programme for the transfer of space technology to civil industry and were awarded a non-repayable grant for research and development. We are currently incubated in the Business Incubation Centre of the European Space Agency and Barcelona Activa in Barcelona.
