About The Midwest Journal of Law & Policy

The Midwest Journal of Law & Policy is the official, student-run legal publication of MWBLSA. Our mission is to promote and celebrate black excellence in legal academia or scholarship, connect black law students, develop legal writing, and research skills, foster, and satisty the intellectual curiosity in different legal and political areas, and amplifying black voices and issues in the legal field. Additionally, the journal solicits manuscripts from law students and legal professionals, scholars, or practitioners nationwide. Established in 1968, the Midwest Region of the National Black Law Students Association (MWBLSA) is an overarching presence in the legal student community. As one of NBLSA’s six regions, it boasts 45 chapters and over 600 law students from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. Our Mission: MWBLSA, a regional affiliate of the NBLSA, is a student-driven body formed to articulate and champion the needs of Black law students. As a subset of the broader NBLSA vision, the organization fervently promotes its members' aspirations and goals.
