Dr. Montarop Yamabhai's aspiration is to educate and inspire the next generation of researchers in their pursuit of innovative and groundbreaking advancements. This vision has come to fruition through the establishment of the "Molecular Biotechnology Laboratory" or MYLab in collaboration with Suranaree University of Technology since May 1st, 2004. Dr. Yamabhai welcomes students and researchers from around the globe to participate in this program, fostering the exchange of ideas and the sharing of experiences.
At MYLab, the primary focus lies in leveraging high-throughput techniques to analyze the structure-function relationship of individual proteins and understand their roles in diverse cellular activities. The laboratory is also dedicated to exploring various biotechnological applications. Currently, the main objectives revolve around the implementation of two established techniques: directed evolution and phage display technology.
Ongoing projects at MYLab involve enhancing the performance of different enzymes for biotechnological purposes through directed evolution. Additionally, the laboratory is engaged in engineering antibodies for therapeutic and diagnostic applications using phage display technology. These endeavors represent the cutting-edge research being conducted at MYLab, with the ultimate aim of contributing to the advancement of biotechnology and its practical applications.
