MyCounterpane

MyCounterpane is out to make the online world emotional. We are a storytelling platform that puts feelings first and gives a never-before-seen-before perspective on living with a chronic illness that could help someone, somewhere, at the time they need it most. Patients and caregivers now have a way to tell their stories based on how they feel, rooted in 11 emotional tags that provide the framework for communicating authentic moments in illness that, in the aggregate, will create a living library of content that's easily searchable and a community that is emotionally connected. With these tags as emotional guides, users choose to express themselves through written text, a photo or by recording instant video via desktop/laptop or smartphone. Emotional data points emerge from a user’s story and can be explored through a linear view (a visual graph of each emotional journey), a scroll down view (the personal details in an online journal), and ultimately, in a “counterpane” view. A counterpane is a patchwork quilt, or a series of squares that combine to make a bigger picture. Video entries submitted by the users produce organized templates (i.e. “Counterpane/MS/Happy” or “Counterpane/MS/Scared”). Users create these templates when they search for content based on what they are looking for emotionally. Individual users gain the health benefits of journaling, self-awareness, context and perspective (and they can keep their profile private in the equivalent of an online scrapbook). Organizations that partner with MyCounterpane gain real time insights about the emotions of their populations and when MyCounterpane expands into the healthcare space, doctors will garner details about their patients’ lives in a way that are timely, beneficial, within the doctor/ patient relationship and will prove quantifiable.
