The Commons is a bold initiative transforming Hamilton’s entertainment scene through the revitalization of three iconic venues: FirstOntario Centre, FirstOntario Concert Hall, and the Hamilton Convention Centre. Led by the Hamilton Urban Precinct Entertainment Group Consortium (HUPEG) and powered by strategic partnerships, we’re creating a dynamic entertainment district that transcends traditional boundaries.
In 2021, the City of Hamilton entrusted HUPEG with operational responsibility for these key downtown venues for a 49-year period. Our mission is to collaboratively redevelop these facilities into a world-class entertainment district, acting as a catalyst for the city’s regeneration.
At the heart of The Commons is community. While this transformation will bring exciting new events and experiences to Hamilton, its true impact will be measured by the positive outcomes and opportunities created for the entire city—not just the revitalization of its downtown core.
