About Harbour Support Services
We aim to improve the lives of families and individuals by providing advice, support and information to victims of domestic abuse. We can increase their safety, providing them with safe, quality accommodation and support for both themselves and their children, enabling them to lead healthy, productive lives. We support on average around 5000 people a year across our broad range of services. Our client base is working with all families and children, pregnant mums as well as male victims and both male and female perpetrators. We cover the whole of the North East and have 7 refuges in North Tyneside, Northumberland Durham, Peterlee, Hartlepool, Redcar & Cleveland and Stockton-On-Tees. We offer our services to both people in our refuges and the surrounding communities. Community services can be offered to anyone who meets the criteria for our support. We also challenge and change the behaviours of those who perpetrate domestic abuse to improve the safety of victims and children. We have a dedicated children’s service for children aged between 3-18 years, but can support children younger if needed. There is no age upper limit for who we support, although the majority of our clients demographic range is between 25-45 years. We can also enable victims of sexual abuse and rape to deal with their experiences through therapeutic counselling. We are continuously striving to develop and innovate new services improving the lives of families and individuals experiencing domestic abuse whilst delivering quality services by working effectively and efficiently. Harbour recognises that certain groups in society continue to be discriminated against and we are committed to the elimination of all forms of discrimination. Our practices seek to ensure that no service user, job applicant, employee, volunteer or partner organisation receives less favourable treatment than others on ground of various characteristics.
