National Association of Designated Safeguarding Leads

The National Association of Designated Safeguarding Leads (NADSL) is to be launched in January 2021. NADSL recognises the crucial work of designated safeguarding leads (DSLs) and other designated safeguarding officer roles and brings together, in one place, all that is needed to increase specialist knowledge, develop new skills, share good practice, receive support and broaden experience. NADSL represents: Safeguarding Together. Now, more than ever, leaders of public service organisations including statutory safeguarding partners (police, health and local authorities) recognise the crucial importance of the role of Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) in keeping children and vulnerable people safe. The National Association of Designated Safeguarding Leads NADSL will support members through: Helping to shape the purpose, importance and role of the DSL and other safeguarding officers. Providing support for the emotional impact from the disclosure of abuse. Helping to define the expectations, roles and responsibilities of other safeguarding partners. Providing guidance on managing and supporting staff through the process of whistleblowing, allegations and disclosures. Support to maintain confidence in the effectiveness of your organisation’s safeguarding policies and procedures. Providing guidance on how your own values and beliefs can affect your role and responsibilities as a DSL. Recognising the barriers to reporting and effective information sharing. Keeping up to date with statutory regulation and legal requirements.
