NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation's largest grassroots, nonprofit organization aimed at improving quality of life for people living with mental health challenges and their families. We are the local affiliate of NAMI, serving lower Fairfield County, Connecticut. To find a local support group, visit our website.
Each month, our trained facilitators lead family support groups online and at local hospitals and churches, and 3 support groups for parents and caregivers of children with mental health issues. We sponsor NAMI educational programs locally, including the Family-to-Family course and NAMI Basics. We have established collaborative ties with local public and private social service and health agencies and treatment centers, the public school system, the faith community, and the state Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. NAMI Southwest CT also has a strong committee structure allowing for more participation by affiliate members.
