National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI) is membership based organization of 1,024 street vendors organizations representing 10,00,000 street vendors from almost all parts of India. NASVI engages with national and state governments as well as municipal bodies for protection of their rights and entitlements through policy and legislative instruments and new initiatives.
Set up to change the Policy environment for secured livelihood of Street Vendors, NASVI has been successful in getting a National Policy in 2004. 18 years of efforts of NASVI to bring recognition to street vendors saw adoption of a National Policy in 2004 which was revised in 2009 along with a model law being recommended to states. However continuous struggle of NASVI led a historic legislation Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act 2014 which was been enacted by the Parliament in February, 2014.
