About National Relief and Development Corps

National Relief and Development Corps (NRDC) is a registered national multi-sectoral NGO founded in 2001 by South Sudanese with a common vision; the organization started operating in Upper Nile state in 2003 and later Central Equatoria. Presently, NRDC operates in the states of Upper Nile and Central Equatoria, and has a head office in Juba Thongpiny, along Kololo Road, opposite the TM Lion Hotel and with sub-offices in Malakal, Kodok, Aburoc and Tonga. We are looking to have a more expanded program in the Equatoria Region in line with the on-going review and upgrade of the organization’s Strategic Plan. The founders of NRDC share similar challenges, inspirations, values as well as a common destiny and have founded the organization as a vehicle to bring forth meaningful change both among the membership as well as the wider South Sudanese society bedeviled by years of conflict, marginalization and a host of vicious emergencies! We believe that, in spite of the present chaos and hopelessness in the country, South Sudan will - once again - emerge as a land of immense wealth, justice and lasting peace! NRDC has prioritized her thematic domains as follows: i) Food secure communities; ii) Peaceful, secure and prosperous communities; iii) Healthy productive communities (and including Sexual and Reproductive Health and well-being including among the youth; iv) Formal and informal Education. NRDC has purposely put food security as well as building community resilience at the core of her overarching agenda; we believe that a hungry country will be perpetually angry with herself and sustained peace and prosperity will remain a mirage! The organization is also making substantive steps to ensure greater emphasis on climate change, environmental conservation as well as people’s improved mental and psychosocial well-being. We are also seeking to address some capacity gaps across the organization’s functional areas to ensure improved effectiveness and impact.
