About Natural Resources Justice Network

NRJN was formed in December 2006 as the Civil Society Network on Mining and Natural Resources, a loose network of human rights organisations working in environment, economic and social justice who shared common views about the extractive/mining industry in Malawi, initially around issues surrounding the opening of the Uranium mine at Kayelekera in Karonga district. At its annual general meeting in 2011, the network changed its name to the Natural Resources Justice Network (NRJN). It currently has a membership of over thirty (30) organisations, working in various sectors interlinked to the mining/extractive Industry sector.
