Nature-Based Solutions Foundation

Launched by some of BC’s most experienced conservationists, the Nature-Based Solutions Foundation is dedicated to protecting the most endangered native ecosystems in Canada. Our primary goal is to achieve legislated protection of these ecosystems by addressing key conservation funding gaps with a core focus on helping finance sustainable economic alternatives for communities. To this end, we leverage and strategically direct private funds to unlock paths to establishing new protected areas. Our pillars: - Protecting native ecosystems: We use science and the best available research to identify the most endangered ecosystems for protection. - Fostering collaboration: We look for strategic opportunities to support regional conservation partners, communities, land trusts, and First Nations governments and other governments to establish new protected areas. - Supporting communities: We provide land-embedded communities with funding to help them develop sustainable economic alternatives and build capacity for new protected areas.
