Nau Department Of Philosophy

Nau Department Of Philosophy company information, Employees & Contact Information

A degree in philosophy will prepare you for a life of learning—in and beyond the classroom. Our small, student-focused classes will guide you through the study of enduring questions about the human condition, the project of self-understanding, the examination of ourselves and the worlds we inhabit. The NAU Department of Philosophy houses four degree programs: Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics and Law, Minor in Philosophy, and Minor in Classical Studies. All of our programs can be paired with STEM or other Humanities-based majors or minors. For all NAU students in and outside of our programs, we offer introductory courses such as Intro to Logic and Philosophies of the World, as well as more advanced courses like Environmental Ethics, Decision Theory, and Ethics and Disability. The department also sustains a faculty versed in a variety of culturally relevant philosophical foci, including Feminist Philosophy, Philosophy of Race and Racism, and Latin American and Latinx Philosophy. The American Philosophical Association, the Society for Mexican American Philosophy, and the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities are just a few of the philosophical organizations our faculty are involved with. Members of our faculty are also key components in recurring events in the academic community such as the National High School Ethics Bowl and the West Coast Plato Workshop.
