New Brunswick Association of Private Colleges & Universities

The New Brunswick Association of Private Colleges and Universities (NBAPCU) is committed to advocating on behalf of private career colleges and private universities in the province. The association’s purpose is to help provincial and federal governments, key decision makers, employers, and the public understand the critical role its members and their students play in supporting New Brunswick’s post-secondary education system and contributing to the province’s economic well-being. NBAPCU members contribute to New Brunswick’s economy by training and placing highly qualified graduates in a plethora of skilled fields such as Applied Arts, Business, Healthcare, Human Services, Information Technology, Services, and Trades The private college and private university sector in New Brunswick consists of over nearly 5000 students. Annually it produces thousands of graduates at a minimal cost to taxpayers, because the sector receives no direct operating funds from the government. The sector is efficient, productive, flexible, innovative, and accountable. It is able to shape and expand it’s programming quickly to adjust to market forces, thereby completing the education offering of the other members of the post-secondary education system. Students of our schools, like all post-secondary students, must be assured of continued access to high-quality programs of excellence, to credit transfers, and post-secondary mobility, credential recognition, equal access to funding opportunities, flexibility in learning modalities, and meaningful performance measurements. The NBAPCU believes that in order to ensure that New Brunswick has a globally competitive post-secondary education system, the government must take a leadership role in fostering equity, collaboration, respect and recognition among all four pillars of post-secondary education – private career colleges, private universities, public community colleges and public universities.
