NBX Bio

NBX Bio is a spin-out from the Institut Pasteur where its founder and CEO developed research on microbiota-based modalities to fight against Alzheimer's disease. - Location:s R&D and Headquarters in Montpellier, South of France and worldwide network of scientists and experts. - Alzheimer's disease is a neurodegenerative condition that causes a progressive deterioration of the brain, affecting mental functions over time. This represents the most common form of dementia, impairing memory, thinking and behavior. Risk of developing Alzheimer's disease increases with age, mainly affecting older people aged 65 and over. Thus, 10% of people over 65 are affected by Alzheimer's disease (!). This affects more than 44 million patients worldwide and this figure is expected to increase threefold in the coming years. - Alzheimer's disease is a major public health problem, but nevertheless: * The exact causes of this disease are not well understood, * No curative or preventive treatment exists to date (at best, new medications slightly slow progression) - The fundamental axis of development of NBX is therefore to create a breakthrough research platform around the microbiome, to develop and market drugs to treat patients with Alzheimer's disease by addressing the causes of the disease and curing patients.
