In 2016, researchers from NC State and the US EPA detected elevated levels of GenX and other PFAS in the Cape Fear River in North Carolina, a major drinking water supply for residents. After this discovery, the North Carolina Collaboratory established the NC PFAST network with appropriations from the North Carolina General Assembly.
The NC PFAS Testing Network is a research collaboration among universities in North Carolina to document the presence of PFAS and understand its impacts on the environment and our health.
