NCI FILEY

NCI is a national charity with local roots, born from local need. The object of the organisation is to assist in the protection and preservation of life at sea along the UK coastline. NCI stations are part of the national network of emergency services, formally recognised as an asset to HM Coastguard. Since the first NCI lookout was developed and opened in 1994, the development of stations has continued. There is now a network of NCI watch-stations along the coastlines of England and Wales. NCI Filey became operational in the July of 2022, the station has become an integral part of the Filey SAR community, which includes RNLI, HM Coastguard, HMCG Coastal Rescue Team, and other emergency services. It has also become a key safety information and support point for members of the public that visit Filey all year around. The principle operational requirement of NCI Filey is to provide clear unobstructed, observations of Filey Bay, including coastal and public areas, such that watchkeepers can easily identify dangerous situations and take appropriate action when required.
