The Northeast Colorado Regional EMS/Trauma Advisory Council is a consortium of nine counties providing emergency medical and trauma services in Northeast Colorado. Jackson, Larimer, Weld, Morgan, Logan, Washington, Phillips, Sedgwick, and Yuma Counties.
Geographic and demographic diversity both challenge and strengthen the region from counties that have less than one person per square mile to counties that have endured double-digit growth in between censuses. Some counties have had to deal with population loss and increased patient age. The region has one National Park, numerous state parks, two interstate highways, and borders on three states.
The NCRETAC board of directors, as directed by statute and as identified through the bylaws, are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners in each county. Representation of two people, where possible, is balanced between pre-hospital and facilities and equal representation per county. The NCRETAC has 18 representatives from the nine counties that serve on the board.
11 RETACs were formed and identified through Colorado Revised Statutes as having a method for membership, funding, and function. Each RETAC in Colorado is required to submit plans every other year and submit budget reports every year in accordance with the Colorado Revised Statutes. The mission of the NCRETAC is to provide a method for individual counties/agencies/hospital facilities to coordinate activities to provide a cost-effective means of planning and goal implementation.
