In times of crisis we can accomplish the extraordinary. Global pandemic is but one of multiple challenges facing the planet – the biggest of them, as almost everyone acknowledges, being climate change. A number of us at NCW have deep experience of working in, and reporting on, the global Aerospace and Defence industry - we know it has locked-in capability that, once released, can profoundly help fight Global Challenges: food and water shortage, environmental catastrophe, global poverty, humanitarian crises, disease and conflict … climate change itself. Our bit to help build a better world in the wake of the virus starts here – via an initiative to stimulate cross-sector solutions to Global Challenges through the unlocked power of A&D sector science and technology. Ultimately, it will take close collaboration between Aerospace and Defence companies and their government customers to bring about this transition. But the prize for doing so is enormous: trillions of dollars of life-saving tech and know-how that will not only help create a better post-virus world, but stimulate our global economic recovery - and on an unprecedented scale.
