The purpose of FIR is to foster creativity, business skills, and engineering skills among University of Notre Dame undergraduate and graduate students, with a focus on internal combustion automotive engineering. The national Formula SAE competition challenges teams of university students to conceive, design, fabricate, develop, and compete with small, formula-style vehicles against over 100 other Universities around the world.
