Needs4Water is a Canadian-Ethiopian, field-based consulting initiative advancing Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) in underserved and crisis-affected communities. Founded in 2017 by water quality specialist Asmahan Rabo, we combine technical precision with community-driven approaches to improve health and dignity through safe, reliable water.
Our core expertise includes WASH surveys, water quality testing, operator training, and infrastructure assessment in challenging environments. We partner with ministries, NGOs, and development agencies to gather credible, on-the-ground data and translate it into actionable, sustainable solutions.
Flagship work includes the Ethiopia 2025 WASH in Schools Survey, covering 25 schools across four regions. Using WHO/UNICEF JMP indicators, the INWISE experience-based tool, and rigorous water testing, we identified service gaps, verified water safety, and delivered recommendations now informing national policy.
Beyond surveys, our projects span school hygiene programs, community water safety campaigns, and capacity building for local technicians. We work in Ethiopia, Somalia, and Kenya, leveraging multilingual, culturally sensitive engagement to ensure local ownership and long-term results.
We believe that clean water is a basic human right, not a privilege. By equipping communities with the skills, tools, and data they need to safeguard water resources, Needs4Water helps create healthier schools, stronger local leadership, and more resilient futures.
