About Neeman - Stroke Survives Organization (Israel)
There are more than 120,000 stroke survivors in Israel and it is estimated that some 18,000 individuals join their ranks each year. At present, over75% of stroke victims are above the age of 60. In 1996, loved ones of stroke survivors banded together to create the Israeli NGO, the Neeman Association. Their mission was—and is—to promote the health and well-being of their close relatives, support families and reach out to others in similar circumstances throughout Israel. In the past, after stroke survivors received medical care and were dismissed from the hospital, there were scant, if any, resources available to them to rehabilitate their lives. For people of limited means, and those in Israel's remote socio-geographic peripheries, the situation was the grimmest. Neeman's Current Main Activities and Goals: 1. Developing an online service for fulfillment of patients rights via chatbot 2. Training for medical and rehabilitative professionals 3. Program to strengthen community based programs 4. Outreach to family physicians in Arab-Israeli communities 5. Tailored guidance for stroke victims and their families 6. Respites for caregivers of stroke victims
