About Negotiating at the United Nations | Negotiations Resolution

We believe the ability to speak for the world is within reach for those who aspire to it. Our experience as diplomatic negotiators taught us that national and global priorities do not have to be in competition. Instead, when we work with others to reconcile potentially conflicting interests, we can achieve groundbreaking results. We train students, professionals, and diplomats in the science and art of diplomatic negotiations. We have worked with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), UN University, and government and academic institutions in the Americas, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Our trainings are based on the content of our book, "Negotiating at the United Nations: A Practitioner's Guide" (Routledge 2019), which we co-authored as a guidebook for negotiators and a playbook for cooperation. Our trainers include: A scientist turned diplomat, Dr. Rebecca E. Webber GAUDIOSI represented the United States at the UN from 2006 – 2014. She was responsible for U.S. engagement with over twenty-five environment-related multilateral organizations as well as Rio+20 and sustainable development issues at the UN General Assembly. Ms. Gaudiosi has also worked with a number of UN specialized agencies and on bilateral environment and science issues. From 2009 to 2015, Ms. Jimena LEIVA-ROESCH was at the Permanent Mission of Guatemala to the UN in New York, where she last served as Counselor. She was the lead negotiator for Guatemala on climate change and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), where she played a key role in defining the agenda. Ms. Leiva-Roesch is currently a Research Fellow with the International Peace Institute where she leads a global study on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
