It’s with thanks to the hard-work and effort of 12 Darlington based ladies that NELD was established with its first event being held at the Dolphin Centre, Darlington in 1983. Jean Stuart, our President and a founder member of NELD, was instrumental in creating events with two primary objectives:
- Ladies to come together and meet in friendship
- Raise substantial funds for local and well deserving charities
As you would expect, the charity has grown over the last 30 years and now hosts two large-scale events every year, attracting hundreds of women from across the region who come together to raise substantial funds for local charities and causes across the North East.
NELD has raised over £390,000 since its first event in 1983, a great achievement and all thanks to those of you who purchase tickets, donate and continue to make NELD events a great success.
