At the Boris Nemtsov Foundation for Freedom (BNFF), we promote the liberal legacy of Russian politician Boris Nemtsov, who was assassinated in Moscow in 2015. The Boris Nemtsov Foundation for Freedom was founded in November 2015 in Germany.
Our mission is to support students, journalists, activists, researchers, and Russian-language independent media to empower them to bring about change in Russia and to make the world a better place. We also build a community of like-minded individuals to engage and coordinate with. BNF congregates expertise on various topics related to Russia and seeks to provide unparalleled opportunities for scholars in the field.
Alongside a variety of scholarships, BNFF provides the opportunity to participate in the largest Russian-language summer school of journalism. In 2023, the “Russian Studies – Boris Nemtsov Educational Program” – a two-year Russian-language Master’s degree program – will receive accreditation from the Faculty of Arts at Charles University in Prague. The inaugural semester will be admitted for the 2023 fall semester.
Every year, BNFF awards the “Boris Nemtsov Prize for Courage” to an individual who has shown exceptional courage in fighting for democracy and freedom.
