Co-operatives Initiative SAN (Sahakari Abhiyan Nepal) Nepal is a grassroots non-governmental organisation whose vision is to enhance prosperity and alleviate poverty in rural Nepal, and contribute to a society built upon the values of social justice and gender equality, in which everyone has access to free, quality and marketable education, micro-credit, and economic opportunity.
Our mission is to alleviate poverty and improve living conditions for disadvantaged people in Nepal’s rural communities. We believe that the keys to achieving this vision are education and cooperative enterprise. We provide free, quality and marketable education to rural children at our SAN School, and we work with local farmers to set up cooperative savings accounts, providing them with the training, seed money and market access that will help them achieve economic empowerment. We also promote modern agricultural initiatives to help farmers maximize the benefits of their labours.
