Net-Zero-Emissions-CI

Net-Zero-Emissions-CI aims to provide net zero-emissions electrification of vessels either at berth or anchorage conditions. Carbon negative compressed BioMethane (bioCNG) is to be produced and utilised onto an existing power barge that will undertake hybridisation and further development to stand as a seamless energy efficient floating cold ironing (CI) solution. The current bioCNG production process as applied by the HO (InoMob), based on animal waste feedstocks, will be further advanced, and integrated with a bioCO2 capture and liquification technology, resulting in carbon negative bioCNG production. Thus, Net-Zero-Emissions-CI will provide a cost competitive locally produced carbon-negative maritime power source, fuelling a pilot off-grid zero emissions CI power barge, capable of maximising the energy efficiency of power generation as compared to the status quo onboard vessels either at berth or at anchorage. Providing renewable power bunkering at anchorage is a novelty that has not yet been applied, at least for the purpose that the current proposal seeks to undertake.
