About Net-Zero Future Conference
The Net-Zero Future project is an international partnership for outstanding education and research, funded by the Research Council of Norway under grant agreement No. 337262. This initiative aims to establish a global alliance to coordinate and conduct research, education, and outreach activities for achieving net-zero built structures. The project will form a well-founded, credible, and innovative alliance, designed to meet both immediate and long-term sustainable development goals. It focuses on enhancing the scope, quality, and relevance of academic cooperation among five distinguished academic institutions across five countries: Oslo Metropolitan University (OsloMet–Norway), Technical University of Darmstadt (TUD–Germany), Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK–India), University of Cape Town (UCT–South Africa), and Iowa State University (ISU–USA). The 1st International Conference on Net-Zero Built Environment—Innovations in Materials, Structures, and Management, held in Oslo, Norway, from June 19–21, 2024, was a pioneering international event dedicated to advancing research, innovation, and collaboration toward a sustainable, net-zero carbon-built environment. This inaugural event gathered experts, researchers, practitioners, and stakeholders worldwide, setting the stage for an accelerated transition to a greener and more sustainable future. Following the success of the 1st conference, the 2nd International Conference on Net-Zero Built Environment—Innovations in Materials, Structures, and Management is scheduled for November 5–7, 2025, in Cape Town, South Africa. This event will further strengthen international collaboration, providing a platform for sharing knowledge, fostering innovation, and addressing critical challenges in achieving net-zero targets globally.
