About Net Zero What Works

The NZWW mission is to support coherent and effective policy, practice and capability development through the creation and/or collation, synthesis, analysis, evaluation, translation, and cross-sectoral dissemination of evidence of ‘what works’ – looking across social, economic, technological and environmental evidence. Targeted impacts: 1. To evaluate and translate the often siloed research from academia, government and industry, creating a whole systems picture of ‘what works’; 2. Increase confidence, efficiency and cost-effectiveness of net zero policy and practice; 3. Bridge the gap between high-level strategic organisations and practitioners, acting as a validation hub for advice and outputs from existing organisations; 4. Provide evidence that is free from commercial remits or sectoral biases; 5. Increase the demand for and supply of evidence of 'what works' to accelerate effective net zero action. The team is based at UCL's Science, Technology, Engineering and Public Policy Department (STEaPP), and works collaboratively with stakeholders across industry, policy and academia.
