NETAFIRM

"He [Jesus] called out to them [His disciples], 'Friends, haven’t you any fish?' 'No,' they answered. He said, 'Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.' When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish" (John 21:5-6). NETAFIRM is based upon John 21:5-6. After the Resurrection, Jesus appeared to His disciples because they lost heart, abandoned their preaching of the Gospel, and no longer believed there was anything they could do to disciple others for Christ. You see, Satan may have been defeated at the cross, but he knew he could still do damage to the Gospel message by influencing Jesus’ disciples to give up and go back to their own plans. However, when the disciples obeyed Jesus and cast their net on the right side of the boat, they witnessed a miraculous catch of fish and their restoration as disciples. In other words, when the disciples obeyed Jesus’ instructions, they witnessed what happened when they did things God’s way. It seems surreal that once again, the American church is in crisis because many of its leaders lost heart, began preaching an incomplete Gospel, and implemented social plans and programs in place of biblically based discipleship. Christ’s simple message to “throw your net on the right side of the boat” has profound results for the kingdom of God. If the church today wants to see a revival among Christians, remember the lesson of John 21:5-6: Disciple God’s people His way, not man’s way.
