About Neuro-Amea
Neuro-Amea presents an instrument for cerebral metabolism estimation based on electro-physiological properties of the human brain – Neuro-Metabolic Activity Mapper (NMAM). The device utilizes a well-studied phenomenon of slow-oscillating currents (DC-potential) of the human brain. Unlike the other methods such as: Omega potential registration and Direct Current Encephalography (DC-EEG), the suggested approach (NMAM) allows studying biological potentials (DC-potentials, Slow Cortical Potentials) that are connected to acid-base balance of the brain. This method is further development of the omega-potential method. The device allows visualizing, record, and analyzing the DC-potentials of the brain, and provides numerous advantages: Pain-free, safe, and non-invasive application. Produces very low number of biological and physiological artifacts. Short analysis time (one measurement could be completed in 5 – 7 minutes). Possibility of long-term dynamic observations. Small size. Simple, user friendly interface. Could be used as a medical diagnostic or research tool. Data received from NMM allows detecting pathologies that require further medical investigations with PET and/or Functional MRI. The “UNEK” software provided with the instrument allows to: Present test results of electrical sensors connected to the patient as graphs on the PC monitor (kOhm vs. time). Output Slow-Oscillating current and sensor quality graphs on the PC (mV vs. time). Produce color maps of test results and reference values superimposed on brain schematic. Present test result and reference values as time diagrams (mV vs. time). Automatically generate explanation of the test results. Display patient’s information, comments, notes, etc. Compare recorded Slow-Oscillating current results and quality of sensor connections with reference values at each point of measurement (after measurements are completed). Export data in text format for further research. Store research data in a data base.
