We have extensive expertise in providing intervention for clients with complex communication and swallowing difficulties following acquired brain injury (ABI) and other neurological conditions e.g. stroke and sub arachnoid haemorrhage.
We provide rehabilitation in client's homes, residential and neurological rehabilitation settings.
We offer:
• assessment and intervention for speech and receptive/expressive language difficulties;
• management of dysphagia (swallowing difficulties) and weaning clients from PEG/RIG feeding onto oral intake;
• treatment of clients who have cognitive communication difficulties
(high level language issues which co-exist with broader cognitive impairment);
• assessment for and implementation of augmentative and alternative communication systems (AAC) and
• specialist assessment for clients who have prolonged disorders of consciousness.
We deliver SMART, goal based, client-centred rehabilitation programmes with the aim of maximising a client’s independence. Functional goals are formulated during consultation with the client, which ensures that goals set are meaningful to the client and their engagement in the therapeutic process is promoted. Outcome measures are used to evaluate progress.
We deliver training programmes for support workers or the families of clients who have complex needs.
We work collaboratively with Case Managers; Physiotherapists; Occupational Therapists; Clinical Neuro Psychologists and Legal Professionals.
We provide intervention for clients who are involved in the process of litigation. A thorough assessment of the client’s speech, language and/or swallowing difficulties is completed and a report detailing long and short term goals is provided, alongside costs for ongoing therapy/treatment.
