As an engineer I have always been interested in medicine. When I had the opportunity to become a perfusionist it was the chance to combine my interest in medicine, physics and technology. After working in several hospitals, I started New Medical Technologies. I am also a senior lecturer at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. Being independent gives me the opportunity to combine clinical work with research, development, education and many interesting projects.
