About Us:
New Spaces was founded by Doug and Carol Nelson in 1980. Today, the family tradition continues with the second-generation Nelson – President Shawn Nelson. As dubbed in the New York Times, Edina Mag., and Qualified Remodeler Mag., the established New Spaces is as a leading full-service design build firm serving the entire metro area. New Spaces is the 2006 Better Business Bureau Integrity Award Winner, 2022 National, Regional and Local Gold and Silver CotY Award Winner, 2022 Chrysalis Award Winner and ROMA Award Winner. President Shawn Nelson has served our Twin Cities remodeling & building industry for two decades, as the Builders Association of the Twin Cities (BATC) President in 2014, and as a Life Director for The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). Shawn currently serves as a city council member for the City of Bloomington and as a board member for the Burnsville & Bloomington Chambers of Commerce and Housing First Minnesota.
