The Network for Energy, Water, and Health in Affordable Buildings (NEWHAB) is a network of people from all over the United States dedicated to a future where everyone has a good home, one that is permanently affordable, protects health, and contributes to climate and community resilience. NEWHAB is a community of peers that members tap into when they want to wrestle collaboratively on sustainable solutions to good housing from a people-centered perspective to solve local issues. We focus on root causes and intentional, leveraged action aimed at increasing the health of the overlapping systems that create housing and energy instability for people of color and underserved communities.
We serve a community of individuals working on the overlapping sectors of environmental justice, affordable housing, sustainability, and clean energy for the benefit of people of color and underserved communities in the United States, at regional and national scales.
We advance our mission of creating an open and inclusive learning community for people from across the U.S. committed to transforming systems for livable, healthy housing for all. We support our community to center intentional action around root causes of environmental injustice and housing instability.
We seek to develop relationships, raise awareness and accountability, and build each member’s capacity to transform their sectors towards our shared mission. We do this by offering a variety of relationship and network-building activities.
We are unique because of our broad, diverse, cross-sector network; human-centered, relationship-centered, and growth-centered culture; and our focus on racial equity in organizational culture and content that provides people of color working in these sectors safe spaces to connect and lead.
