Ngarrngga

Ngarrngga is a Taungurung word meaning to know, to hear, to understand. The Ngarrngga vision is for all Australian students to connect with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge systems, histories and cultures - and be transformed by those deep understandings. To achieve that, we are creating innovative curriculum resources made by educators, for educators, in collaboration with Indigenous Knowledge Experts. These resources are rigorously tested and evidence-based. They are piloted in classrooms and refined based on teacher feedback. This means educators can have confidence in the quality and integrity of the Ngarrngga resources, knowing that they have direct links to the Australian Curriculum. Ngarrngga works with and supports educators, academics, pre-service teachers and educational leaders. These resources are complemented by the delivery of masterclass-style professional development. Ngarrngga is led by First Nations educators, supported by the University of Melbourne and is also proudly supported by BHP. As a Signature Project at the University of Melbourne, Ngarrngga is a collaboration between the Faculty of Education, Indigenous Studies Unit and Indigenous Knowledge Institute.
